17 Sep 09 Looking for a New Linux Project

I’m currently looking for a new Linux project, at minimum, something new to install Linux on. I’ve been reading about the opentom project, although I’m not sure that there’s enough scope to get a tomtom to do anything particularly interesting when running Linux. Last time I investigated the HTC range of phones and the implementations of Linux available, there had not been enough progress made either.

At the back of my mind, and especially after building the robot, I’m quite interested in doing something with an Alix/PhidgetKit combo again. I already have in mind a house alarm system, featuring an electronic lock, touchscreen or similar interface, laser beams on the input channels and an RFID scanner, but more on that to come later. I think that one’s a few months away from starting.

Any ideas welcome..
